Big Bang at School Blueprint bursary FAQs

The Big Bang at School Blueprint allows you to create an inspirational STEM event, just right for your students, that starts an extraordinary journey.
The event must take place at your school and include practical hands- on activities and careers engagement. The Big Bang at School team can support you to plan your event, and incorporate skills-based learning, project work and reflection opportunities.

sign your bursary agreement (sent via Juro) to accept your offer – please see the agreement for the signing deadline
share the date you set for your event by emailing bigbangatschool@eukeducation.org.uk
deliver your Big Bang at School Blueprint event and fill in our feedback survey by 30 July 2027
your school should raise an invoice after delivering your event and submitting the feedback survey. We must receive your invoice by 1 October 2027
Payment is dependent on delivery of the event, completion of the survey, and receipt of your invoice by the deadlines. If payment after your event is a barrier to your school completing the scheme, please email bursaries@eukeducation.org.uk to discuss.

Your bursary must be used to fund a Big Bang at School blueprint event.
You can spend the bursary on;
Activities - for digital or in-person activities or a Neon experience which will be delivered as part of the Big Bang at School Blueprint
Teacher or technician cover costs
Kit - buying equipment or materials needed to deliver a Big Bang at School Blueprint

EngineeringUK offer bursaries to our priority schools, which are schools more likely to have students from groups underrepresented in engineering and technology. We offer bursaries to reduce financial barriers and support you to deliver a Big Bang at School Blueprint event at your school.
A key aim of our bursary schemes is to inspire all young people into STEM careers, not just those who already have a passion for science and engineering. Please ensure that all students are encouraged to participate, not just those already interested in engineering and technology or other STEM careers. We are particularly keen for schools to include the following groups (who are underrepresented in engineering and technology):
girls (at least 50% or proportionate to your student population)
disabled young people and those with special educational needs
students from UK minority ethnic backgrounds, including in particular Black, Black British, Caribbean or African young people
those eligible for free school meals

EngineeringUK will reimburse your school after you deliver your event, fill in our feedback survey, and send your invoice. Bursaries are paid to your school, and we do not pay suppliers or providers directly.
If payment after delivering the experience is a barrier to your school taking part in the scheme, please email bursaries@eukeducation.org.uk to discuss.

The invoice must be from your school; we do not pay suppliers or providers directly.
The bursary is not VAT applicable, and you do not need to provide an itemised invoice. You can see an example of an invoice here.
Please ask your colleagues in your school office, finance department or bursar to help if you are unsure on how to raise an invoice.

Please email bursaries@eukeducation.org.uk as soon as possible if you can no longer take part in the scheme. We have a limited number of bursaries to offer, so if you will not take part we can offer the bursary to another school.
