Overview
Challenge your students with real-world robotics and text-based coding in this advanced workshop. Designed for Years 7–13 (S1–S6), students build and program LEGO robots using Python, applying computing and engineering principles to solve practical problems.
What students will do:
- Design and build robots from scratch
- Code using Python to control motors, sensors, and mechanisms
- Tackle challenges using bespoke robotics mats
- Apply sequencing, selection, iteration, and—if time allows—functions and variables
Projects include coding a humanoid quizzing robot or a vehicle robot, with options to extend into more complex engineering tasks. Ideal for students ready to move beyond block coding and deepen their understanding of programming.
Curriculum links:
Mapped to KS3–KS5 Computing, Design Technology, and Science. Supports GCSE and A-Level objectives, especially in programmable components and Python programming.
