Overview

Bring renewable energy to life with Lab Rascals’ hands-on Wind Energy workshop, where pupils become engineers for the day.

Working in teams, they design, build and test their own LEGO wind turbines and cars, investigating how different wind speeds impact energy generation and performance.

This practical session encourages problem-solving, teamwork and iterative design, as pupils test ideas and improve their builds. Activities link to key science and design and technology learning, including forces, motion and simple engineering principles.

Careers links are woven throughout, with real-world examples of how wind energy is used and the people who work in this sector, helping pupils see how their learning connects to future pathways.

The workshop is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all learners, including pupils with SEND, with built-in adaptations to support participation and confidence.

There are only 10 funded workshops available for schools in North East Lincolnshire, so early booking is recommended.

Schools can extend learning after the session with optional STEM loan kits and CPD to support teaching renewable energy in the classroom.
