Taking place from 9 to 13 November, this year’s theme is Shape our future. It will show young people how engineering and technology tackles the real-world issues they care about. Through a series of interactive activities, students will learn how they can actively shape future solutions through a STEM career. Schools that sign up will receive free resources that bring STEM to life and help students imagine a rewarding future career in engineering and tech.

From the environment and sustainability to digital technologies and health, the Week will explore the challenges engineers and technicians need to solve over the next 25 years. Students aged 11 to 14 will be given the opportunity to directly engage with these challenges and hear how the professionals tackle these topics.

Engineering and technology employers, professional engineering institutions and individual engineers and technicians all get involved to share their career stories and inspire the next generation. This year the Week will also highlight the industry’s importance in our collective future.

Jo Hollingdale, Senior Careers Inspiration Manager at EUK Education commented: “This year’s Tomorrow’s Engineers Week is all about inspiring young people to see their future in engineering by linking STEM to the world around them. Hands-on activities will ask students to bring their creativity to some of the big issues engineers and technicians are grappling with. We hope by directly investigating these real-world challenges, we’ll spark an interest in STEM that could lead to a rewarding career.

“Many young people aren’t aware of just how many different jobs are available in engineering. And the number of new jobs is only set to grow to meet the UK’s net zero goals. It’s essential to bridge the gap between aspirations and knowledge and show young people how STEM careers directly shape future solutions. Last year a record 61,000 young people took part in our activites for schools. We’re really hoping as many schools as possible will participate this year.”

Teachers and careers leads can sign up to take part now and will receive free resources and activities in the autumn.
